The mission of Pasión is to serve the communities in Cameron, Willacy, Hidalgo, Starr and surrounding counties by providing high quality artistic choral concerts to underserved populations. Through exceptional, educational performances of repertoire indicative of different genres, countries, styles, and languages, Pasión seeks to educate the community, as well as ignite, inspire, and foster a love of choral music.

Founded in 2016 by McAllen native Dr. Eric Posada, Pasión has a deep affinity for community outreach. In addition to public concerts, it is the choir’s sincerest desire to enhance worship at local churches. Furthermore, the ensemble hopes to present interactive performances, workshops, and symposiums for students and educators across the Rio Grande Valley. Finally, Pasión has supported noteworthy causes and collaborated with community organizations such as Mujeres Unidas/Women Together and Bebo's Angels to bring joy into people’s lives.

The Choir

Pasión is a professional chorus that unites singers from the Rio Grande Valley with those from across the United States, all under the direction of Dr. Eric Posada. These choristers represent music-making and friendships from different stages of Posada’s life. The bond they collectively share with Dr. Posada and each other is truly palpable, special, spiritual, and emotionally charged.

On June 22, 2017 Pasión presented its inaugural concert “Noche de Lluvia” in McAllen, TX. The concert weekend was received by three thunderous standing ovations and a tangible outpouring of love, support, and anticipation from the community. Additionally, the choir gave the Concert World Premiere of and recorded renowned American composer Michael John Trotta’s A Light Shines in the Darkness. The album was released  in 2018 and soared to #11 on the classical music charts.

During the Christmas season Pasión collaborated with “Mujeres Unidas/Women Together” and “Bebo’s Angels” to support noteworthy causes and bring joy into people’s lives. Pasión has been invited to perform at Cadogan Hall, London during the summer of 2020. Our forthcoming concert on June 15, 2019
entitled “True Colors” will feature a collaboration between Pasión and Colibrí Children’s Choir.
